Asking for Feedback
Hi friends,
The tagline here is: Spiritual development meets the metacrisis . . . meets your life today. I’m looking for some input as to next steps and how this “waking up” exploration might be useful and helpful to you - readers participants.
I’d like this writing to be something you can use, something that makes a difference and something you want to share with others because it’s of value.
There are a little under 400 subscribers here and usually between 40 and 50 percent read a particular post. I hear from friends but not too much from readers and wonder how I’m contributing to that - staying too comfortable in my meditation bubble perhaps?
To that end I’m curious about what you’re wanting, sensing, lacking, wanting more of. I’ve made up an anonymous survey. It’s a handful of questions and most can be answered with a click; one question asks what you like and / or don’t like. Feel free to tell me anything you like.
Answering may be an opportunity for you to examine what you’re wanting and receiving from your online activity. Are you moving forward with what you need to, feeling stuck or stuckish, resigned? Excited as can be?
I do think that the question of how we stay true to ourselves and be in the world is an important one. I’ll be sharing my thoughts and some reading on that soon.
Peer Assist
It’s possible to use groups and peers to discover next steps or find out more about things we don’t see clearly.
One such process is the Peer Assist Process. It’s been known as Action Learning in European businesses and is used by Otto Scharmer (Presencing Institute). I share the steps below. (This particular wording may have come from June Holley, the author of the Network Weaving Handbook, I’m not sure. )
This peer assist process is a live zoom event with others rather than a solitary practice. It’s a process for 4-8 people that benefits a designated “person with a question” as well as the others. I’ve always found it engaging and energizing.
There’s a chance to join in this Monday at noon Eastern, or another time.
PEER ASSIST PROCESS
Take 30-50 minutes (assign a time keeper) and self-facilitate, self-organise documenting and / or recording (if wanted); follow these steps:
1) Person with challenge, 5 MINUTES: What is my challenge?
2) Assisting group, 5-10 MINUTES: Clarifying questions? What did you mean? Tell us more about…
3) TWO MINUTE SILENCE
4) Assisting group, 10-15 MINUTES: Advice, resources, thoughts...
5) Person with challenge, 5 MINUTES: replies and summarizes what they learned and what they might try.
6) Assisting group (a round, 5-15 MINUTES): What did I learn from this discussion? How might it help my work?"
As the format suggests, it’s designed to be useful to the members of the assisting group and not only the designated person who presents a question or challenge. Note that the challenge involves an action in the world you’re facing, not purely internal processing.
I’ll be offering this Monday at noon Eastern with myself as person with challenge. In this case it’s something like How can I bring more wisdom and support to people trying to wake up in a challenging time like today?
If you’d like to join in Monday, reply to this email and I’ll send you the zoom link. No special qualifications are needed. If there’s no room, I’ll put you on a list and notify you of a follow-up time you can join if you choose to.
Onward!
Andrew
